  • Completed medical school in New Zealand in 1981, followed then by working in hospitals around New Zealand as a junior doctor (unaccredited resident). Undertook General Surgical Training from 1987-1991 (Auckland Regional Scheme).
  • First consultant position was as a Lecturer in Surgery, 1991-1992 at Auckland Hospital. This was followed by Transplant Surgical Fellowship training in the United States (University of Alabama, Birmingham,1992-1994) and Canada (London, Ontario, 1994-1995).
  • Then commenced my second consultant position as a Transplant Surgeon(Liver & Kidney), in 1995 in Sydney, Australia, which I have held for over 20 years.

Accomplishments include -

  • Over 100publications
  • Presentations at scientific meetings
  • Committee work at regional and national levels -culminating in guideline publication for organ donation and transplantation
  • Medicolegal advisory roles for over 10 years
  • Mentoring of medical students and trainees
  • Membership of an Editorial Board for IGI Global
  • Membership of International Transplant Societies
  • Clinical Resource Officer for the Australian Organ & Tissue Authority for 6 years - including undertaking Social Media for advocacy purposes
