Completed medical school in New Zealand in 1981, followed then by working in hospitals around New Zealand as a junior doctor (unaccredited resident). Undertook General Surgical Training from 1987-1991 (Auckland Regional Scheme).
First consultant position was as a Lecturer in Surgery, 1991-1992 at Auckland Hospital. This was followed by Transplant Surgical Fellowship training in the United States (University of Alabama, Birmingham,1992-1994) and Canada (London, Ontario, 1994-1995).
Then commenced my second consultant position as a Transplant Surgeon(Liver & Kidney), in 1995 in Sydney, Australia, which I have held for over 20 years.
